当館に展示中の忍者刀についてですが、
キャプションには「流行したのが幕末ということから、実際に使っていたというより、シンボル的なものだった。」と、記しております。

こちらは当館顧問の説をベースにして１０年以上前に作成したものですが、その後研究が進み、時代に合わなくなっているのが現状で、当館でも見直しを行っている途中です。
The caption was made more than 10 years ago, based from our adviser's theory, however it doesn't match with recent study anymore. We are working on revising.


【２―「中国から日本へ伝来したものは、兵法であって忍術ではない。忍術は日本の風土の中で出来た文化である」という点について】
2-What came from China was Hyoho(strategy), not ninjutsu itself.

私共はこれまで、忍術研究家の方々の意見を中心にご紹介してまいりましたが、最近では、歴史研究家の中でも忍びの類について述べる方が増えてきており、今後は、より様々な観点から忍者・忍術について、研究していかなければと考えております。
We've presented theories by ninja(ninjutsu) researchers, however these days, historians who do research on the subject is increasing.
We're going to have to present many different views.

当館の見解といたしましては、兵法が忍術に変化したという解釈について、
現在は「過去」に語られた説として、受けとめております。

So the museum recognizes that the ninja history people commonly believe-like ninjato, has a lot of misunderstandings.
But they also say "Ninjato became popular in the end of Edo period(mid 19C)"

The ninjato which supposed to be made in mid 19C has never been found.
That means there's no ninjato in those days.


I agree with that.
Bakumatsu-to(mid 19C nihonto) is relatively newer katana in nihonto market.
It was the time that samurai really used nihonto to fight.(ex.Shinsengumi)
And there are more than enough historical records from the period but I have never seen any text that mentions existence of ninjato.
If ninjato was such polular then, why none of Son-jo ronin own it?

i misunderstood one of review.
"When Oda Nobunag chopped a man's head..."
correction is
"A man's head flies like a rocket much faster than when Oda Nobunaga chopped a head in NHK Taikoki drama."
Anyway, it meant the rocket head was funny.

Chosonninja seems to believe the sanada ten braves is real.
Everybody who has read it knows it's fiction but choson.

The Sanada ten braves was published by Tatsukawa bunko in 1911.
Tasukawa bunko was popular kid's novel publisher.
The sanada ten braves is fiction is common sense in Japan.
